Poor Poor Pierrot

Pierrot clowns are always so sad – and with good reason, to be fair. Pierrot falls in love with Columbine, who runs off with Harlequin, so poor Pierrot is another victim of unrequited love. And although Pierrot is SO pretty, he can’t compete with Harlequin, the bad boy of Commedia dell’Arte, too sexy for his own good, and certainly too sexy for Pierrot’s good!

This little Pierrot is properly pathetic, but possibly a little bit too androgynous for Columbine (who clearly likes a bit of rough!)

  1. My favorite of all your lovely doll people. I adore clowns.

Thank you Elizabeth – glad you like him/her. I like clowns too, so theatrical – and I kind of like that so many people are scared of them and find them creepy. It takes all sorts! Hope you had a wonderful holiday season – and best wishes for a happy 2014.

  2. He’s a great Pierrot- most of the time they look like manic depressives, whereas yours looks kind of thoughtful and relaxed about being a loner.

This is so beautiful, his face is amazing, just a teeny bit spooky (as every clown should be) the perfect antidote to the hideous 80s pink/grey ‘pierrot’ themed bedroom my best friend had when I was growing up 🙂
Thank you so much for your kind comments, I look forward to reading more of your blog – I am trying to drag myself away from the computer – I think the blog will be the thing that takes all my time up now…. the giving up smoking one made me laugh. Unicorns smoking roll ups – they’re everywhere!

Tell me what you think
